Why this Substack? Why now?
I would like to build this Substack in conjunction with my blogs and my YouTube channel for three main purposes:
To share the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and invite others to come unto Christ in order to find joy and salvation and assist in the gathering of scattered Israel
To share things that are virtuous, lovely, of good report, and praiseworthy in order to inspire, uplift, edify, encourage, and entertain
To share commentary and opinions on things political, philosophical, religious, literary, social, medical, and so forth
I hope to post frequently on a variety of topics that fall broadly under the three main aforementioned purposes.
Subscribers can expect sober, thoughtful, and honest articulations of things that I consider to be important, such as:
Thoughts on the Come, Follow Me curriculum of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and my Come, Follow Me study and conversation group
Insights, reflections, and testimony on the teachings of the living prophets and the prophetic writings contained in the Standard Works of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Commentary on matters related to the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Church history, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in these, the last days
Commentary on the Joseph Smith Papers as I continue to study them, and commentary on other Church related books and articles
Commentary on books that we read in the Provo Great Books Club
Commentary on political, philosophical, religious, literary, social, medical, and other matters of interest
Engagement with other social media, YouTube, and podcast personalities of interest
Occasional sharing of artwork, music, and other creative work
Commentary on psychiatry and on why it ought to be abolished
